Chapter Programs

VIPMOAA currently supports several programs aimed at preserving the efficacy of the military establishment, health of and care for military personnel and protecting earned benefits of military veterans and their families.  Such programs include the Virginia Veteran Family Support Program (formerly Wounded Warrior Program) which monitors and coordinates behavioral health, rehabilitation and supportive services through an integrated and responsive system of care; the Virginia Council of Chapters, an  organization of all MOAA chapters in Virginia which interacts with elected leaders on the State and National levels to advocate for a strong national defense and protection of earned benefits for all military active duty, Reserve, Guard, veterans and their families; Surviving Spouses; Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs at 11 high schools and three universities, respectively, in our area of responsibility.  

Also, supporting Military Community Service Organizations, such as the Armed Services USO; Colonial Williamsburg Liberty Lounge (a comfortable place for veterans and their families to relax);  Honor Flight trips to Washington D.C. for World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans to visit their respective war memorials and other appropriate sites; and the Fisher House at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. The Fisher House Foundation has provided over 60 houses to the government to care for families of patients injured, sick or terminally ill in medical treatment facilities.
