      Personal Affairs - Chaplain

      Gary Weeden holds Masters Degrees from Western Seminary, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and the U.S. Naval War College. He began his service as enlisted in both the U.S. Coast Guard from 1977-1981 and Oregon Air National Guard from 1985-1987.

      In 1987 he was commissioned as a Navy Chaplain and over the next 30 years served with numerous Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard commands, as well as a special Joint assignment with U.S. Central Command. There he deployed throughout the CENTCOM region serving as the Deputy Chaplain.

      In 2010, he was selected as the Ninth Chaplain of the Coast Guard in which he oversaw all religious and spiritual support of all Coast Guard personnel until 2014. His final assignment was Command Chaplain for U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany in which he traveled to 30 nations with strategic focus on strengthening the Chaplaincy of NATO partners.

      He retired in 2017 as an O6 and recently moved from Northern Virginia to the Williamsburg area. He and his wife, Grace, are preparing for their second career in Christian Missions Service to the Balkan region in Europe. Gary and Grace have been married 38 years and have two children and two grandchildren.
