Carolyn McHale, lived in Silver Spring, MD for over 48 years before coming to Patriots Colony on 14 December 2017. Carolyn is from Pittsburgh.  Her Degree in Biology at Drexel Institute of Technology was step one to a fantastic bio-computer career. She worked for 8 years at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute in Bethesda researching rat brain enzymes. She moved to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she was on the bottom floor of computing. She worked for five of the 27 Institutes (Eye, Aging, Library of Medicine, Research Grants, and Arthritis) from 1973 until 1997 when she retired.  Her final 10 years she was Chief of the Scientific Information and Data Systems at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. In 1996, she was selected as one of the Top 100 Woman in Computing in the US by Business Week.   Would you believe that we have four computers and sometimes all are being used!    Carolyn retired after 31 years in the government and she volunteered for 22 years at the National Zoo and 12 years at the Hillwood Mansion in Washington.  She was the President of the DC chapter of People to People International (PTPI) where they worked extensively with the National Defense University to provide sponsors for the International Fellows. Through PTPI they have military friends in France, Greece, Brazil, Columbia, and Afghanistan,  They have an RV in which they travel extensively in the USA.
