Comrade In Arms Support Team

VIPMOAA Request for Support Form

VIPMOAA has formed the Comrades-in-Arms Support Team (CAST). This is a pilot program that will last 1 year from September 2025 to August 2026. The mission is simple: to ensure that no officer stands alone in times of need. The CAST Program will assist fellow members experiencing temporary hardships whether due to illness, injury, family crisis, or other personal challenges. The committee will reflect the core values of retired military officers—duty, honor, loyalty, camaraderie, and service to others assuring that no member is left behind when facing tough times.

The Member Support Committee will offer short-term, volunteer-based assistance designed to help members maintain their quality of life and connection to the VIPMOAA community during times of difficulty. Services may include:

  • Wellness & Morale Check-ins;
  • Offering companionship or support during crises;
  • Coordinating meals or care packages;
  • Providing transportation or light home assistance; and
  • Honoring members through recognition & remembrance.

We are seeking members with caregiving skills—nurses, doctors, chaplains, grief counselors, and compassionate listeners—to volunteer. Even one hour of your time can make a difference for a comrade in need. and Paul Fameli (famelipj@aol.com) and Kathy Schnepf (kathy.schnepf@gmail.com) would like to hear from you.

CAST’s Mission:
To stand by our comrades with timely, confidential, and meaningful assistance that strengthens bonds of camaraderie, honors the traditions of military service, and reinforces the spirit of lifelong mutual support.

Who Can Join:
Any VIPMOAA member with a willingness to lend a helping hand, share a kind word, or stand beside a comrade is welcome. Volunteers choose their level of participation and are never obligated to accept an assignment.

Confidentiality is Paramount:
All assistance is offered with the consent of the member or their family, and personal information is always treated as strictly confidential.

Why It Matters:
Through CAST, we continue the proud tradition of “taking care of our own.” Together, we ensure that no one is left behind — not in service, not in retirement.
