VIPMOAA ROTC/JROTC Award Program Description (4/30/2023)

For the college ROTC cadets, VIPMOAA awards an achievement certificatethe MOAA  medal, and a monetary stipend to an outstanding Junior year cadet, and a set of 2nd Lieutenant bars, a certificate citing Welcome into the Officers Corps, along with a free introductory membership in MOAA, to Senior cadets who are commissioned. The local colleges we support are W&M, Hampton Univ, and Christopher Newport Univ.

VIPMOAA supports up to 11 JROTC units at the high school level with a leadership achievement certificate, MOAA medal, and a gift card to an outstanding Junior year cadet, and a scholarship to a Senior year cadet, to be used for post-secondary education.

The presentation of a VIPMOAA ROTC/JROTC medal and certificate is an excellent way for chapters to gain exposure in their community and, at the same time, foster a positive military recognition among the youth of the community. VIPMOAA also uses the medal to encourage and to support the local Senior Instructors in their efforts to teach and support young leadership in the local Virginia Peninsula area.

VIPMOAA Award volunteer presenters are selected from VIPMOAA membership each year for the award season that begins in April and ends throughout the month of May of the school year.  Funds to support this program come from the generous donations of VIPMOAA Members.
