      PAUL FAMELI USA LTC Ret.

Paul Joseph (“PJ”) Fameli grew up in Plymouth County, Massachusetts believing the Pilgrims were the first settlers to arrive on America’s shores. Thus, he considers it ironic that he retired closer to Jamestown than to Plymouth.
He graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and was commissioned from the ROTC Program as a Distinguished Military Graduate in the U.S Army Corps of Engineers. PJ holds degrees from Georgetown, University of Maryland, Thunderbird, Boston University, and University of Edinburgh. He is an online Doctor of Technology (DTech) candidate with Purdue Polytechnic Institute.
PJ retired from active military duty in 2019 after twenty-eight years of combined active (20 years) and reserve duty (8 years). His military specialty was civil military operations and host relations at U.S. Army installations in Northeast Asia. His terminal assignment was as a NATO Staff Officer at SHAPE in Mons, Belgium. PJ continued to serve as a Department of the Army Civilian (DAC) at U.S. Army Japan. He retired after 12 years of federal government service as a Senior Operations Specialist at HQ, TRADOC, Fort Eustis, VA.
PJ is a James City County/Williamsburg Master Gardener, member of the Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists and Williamsburg Buddhist Sangha, lifetime member of the VFW and Civil Affairs Association. His leisure activities include yoga, tai chi, Centergy and Power (do look this up, it is interesting), and golf. His spouse Atsuko is a part-time Yoga and Zumba instructor. The Fameli’s are proud of their two sons, one a U.S. Army Ranger and the other a software engineer.
